In den Moorgebieten von Devon und Cornwall findet man zahlreiche, rustikal aussehende Brücken wie diese hier in Dartmeet. Sie bestehen aus unbearbeiteten Steinplatten die auf Steinpfeilern ruhen. Es wurde lange Zeit vermutet, sie stammten aus vorchristlicher Zeit; mittlerweile glaubt man eher an die Erbauung im Mittelalter. On the Devon an Cornish moors there are many rustic-looking bridges similar to this one at Dartmeet. They consist of slabs of unworked stone lying on roughly built pillars. It has been suggested they are the work of prehistoric men, but they are now considered much more likely to be the work of the Middle Ages. On the next page you find the Clapper Bridge at Postbridge not far away.
