In den Moorgebieten von Devon und Cornwall findet man zahlreiche, rustikal aussehende Brücken wie diese hier in Postbridge. Sie bestehen aus unbearbeiteten Steinplatten die auf Steinpfeilern ruhen. Es wurde lange Zeit vermutet, sie stammten aus vorchristlicher Zeit; mittlerweile glaubt man eher an die Erbauung im Mittelalter. Um diese Fotos zu schießen, brauchte ich knapp eine Stunde! Ein junges Pärchen hatte gerade damit begonnen, mitten auf der Brücke Picknick zu machen - mit Tischdecke und allem "Drum und Dran". Bild 3 zeigt die "neue" Brücke von Postbridge.
On the Devon an Cornish moors there are many rustic-looking bridges similar to this one at Postbridge. They consist of slabs of unworked stone lying on roughly built pillars. It has been suggested they are the work of prehistoric men, but they are now considered much more likely to be the work of the Middle Ages. It took me nearly an hour to take these pictures - a young couple had just started to picknick on top of the bridge, with table cloth and all the fancy bits. Image 3 shows the "new" bridge of Postbridge.
