der Ort, an dem die Ruine des Urquhart Castles hoch über Loch Ness steht, war schon im 13. Jhdt. durch den Lord of the Isles befestigt, aber die meisten Gebäude, die heute noch zu sehen sind, stammen aus dem 16. Jhdt., der Festungsanlage des Chief of Grant. Die Burg taucht immer wieder auf Bildern und in Filmen im Zusammenhang mit Sichtungen von Nessie, dem Loch Ness Monster, auf. Mr. P.A. Macnab machte diese Aufnahme (Bild 3) im Sommer 1955 mit einer Exacta 127. Mcnab wörtlich zu dieser Aufnahme: "Nachdem ich eine starke Wellenbewegung im Wasser sah, nahm ich die Gelegenheit wahr, wechselte sofort das Objektiv meiner Kamera, weil sich da irgend etwas Großes mit einer Geschwindigkeit von ca. 15-20 km/h durch die Wellen pflügte; ich drückte den Auslöser in dem Moment, als das Wesen einen Laut von sich gab." Die höchste Stelle des Towers von Urquhart Castle liegt ungefähr 20 Meter über dem Boden und das Wasser ist an der Stelle, an der das "Monster" erschien, 25 - 30 Meter tief.
the site where Urquhart Castle stands above Loch Ness was fortified by the Lord of the Isles during the 13th century, but most of the buildings to be seen today belong to the 16th century stronghold of the Chief of Grant. The castle has featured in some of the best known photographs and sightings of the Loch Ness Monster. Mr. P.A. Macnab took this photograph (image 3) in the summer of 1955 with an Exacta 127 camera. His account reads: "Seeing a disturbance in the water, I took a chance and changed lenses conscious of something big, undulating and moving at eight to twelve knots; I snapped, just as the creature was sounding." The highest point of the tower of Urquhart Castle is 20 meter above the ground, and the water surrounding the point is deep - 25 to 30 meter deep where the monster shape appeared.
